Son of Clay and Ida (Hale) Pitchford. Grandson of Judge Nero and Elizabeth M. (Gatewood) Pitchford, of Allen County, Kentucky. Great-Grandson of Orange Davis Sr. and Mary E. (Fitzpatrick) Pitchford and Great-Grandson of Fletcher and Mary (Calvert) Gatewood.

Drowned in Wynn's Lake, beyond Bachman's Damn. He had been in the lake swimming, accompanied by his cousin, Dean Pitchford, Mrs. May Siddons, a cousin, and Mrs. Stella Coleman were also in the party. Harry Pitchford made his home wih his uncle, Finis Pitchford.
