Residence: Ashe County, NC; 32 years old.
Conscripted and signed up by Captain McRea for the duration of the war on 8/15/1862 at Statesville, Iredell County, NC., he was mustered into Company K, 37th North Carolina Infantry, as a Private.
Wounded 12/13/1862 in the 1st Battle of Fredericksburg, VA.
Present on Jan & Feb 1863 Roll.
He died of "disease"/"fever" in Camp Gregg, VA.

The 37th Infantry Regiment, organized by Colonel C.C. Lee, was assembled at High Point, North Carolina, in November, 1861. The men were raised in the counties of Buncombe, Watauga, Mecklenburg, Wake, Ashe, Alexander, and Gaston.
