Jackie Lynn Jackson

After not feeling quite well through the day of Dec. 2, Jackie Lynn Jackson died in her sleep the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013. She was 78.

Jackie was born Nov. 25, 1935, to Jack and Altha Corley in Lamesa, Texas. When she was 2 years old the family moved West in the historic Dust Bowl migration, settling in Tulare, Calif.

In 1951 she married Leon Wallace of Tulare and in 1956 they had a son, Jeffrey Wallace. However, they were soon after divorced and Jackie and Jeff moved to the Bay Area.

In 1958 she met and married Robert Jackson, originally of El Centro, Calif., and they settled in Fremont, Calif. They had a daughter, Barbara, then a daughter, Debra. Barbara was lost to Aplastic Anemia in 1964. A son, Robert, was born shortly after the loss of Barbara and a couple of years later the family was completed with the arrival of a son, Richard.

In the late 1960s Bob and Jackie bought property in the brand new Trinity Pines subdivision southwest of Hayfork, built a cabin there and over the next years spent much time in the Trinity Pines and Hayfork area. In 1973 Jackie lost Bob to an illness. The family continued to visit the cabin and Hayfork and in 1976 the family, including her new life companion, Richard "Dean" McKown, moved to Weaverville.

During much of the family's time in Weaverville, Jackie worked as a secretary at the Trinity County Building Department. She left Trinity County in the late 1980s but in the early '90s Dean and Jackie moved onto the property in Trinity Pines permanently. Jackie went to work for the Trinity County Assessor's Office until retirement in 2003. After retirement she spent some time volunteering as secretary for the Post Mountain Public Utilities District, but mostly tended her flower gardens, bird feeders, dogs and cats on "her mountain."

She is survived by her children, Jeff Wallace of Hayfork, Debbie (Bryan) Brown of Topock, Ariz., Robert (Sondra) Jackson of Weaverville, and Rick (Peggy) Jackson of Redding; grandchildren Kaleb Lynch, Theresa Jackson, and Robert, Heather and Daniel Jackson; Dean's children Gary (Marcy) McKown and Wayne McKown; and Dean's grandchildren, Adrian, Christine, Nykole and Michelle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dewayne; sisters Ruby Cox and Elwanda Epler; daughter Barbara; husband Bob; son-in-law David and grandson Daryk Lynch; her companion Dean and Dean's children Cheryl, Ann, Glen and Martin.

Services will be held at a date and location yet to be determined.
