Ruth was born to Walter and Irene Goehrs. She grew up in Bremerton. She remembers enjoying playing with her many cousins. She also remembers her family building a house.
When Mom got older, she went to college at the University of Washington. She graduated in Chemistry and did postgraduate work in microbiology. She had thought to become a Doctor. Ultimately, she ended up in a variety of roles in life. She worked in a support position in the medical field; as a Chemist testing water quality for the Navy in Seattle; as a Nanny; and as a full time Homemaker.
She met my Dad, Vern Jackson. They fell in love after being friends for many years. They got married in 1960. My sister and I were born soon after. My Dad ended up working at a job that took us around the western states.
In 1965, we moved back to Bremerton. Dad worked at the shipyard. This also required some travel. Wherever we went, Mom made it a home for that time period.
Mom was a Homemaker in my childhood. She was always working on a project or two. She said there's no reason to be bored because there is always something to do.
After Dad retired and we grew up, Mom and Dad continued to take care of their house. They took trips to California and also visited with family.
Mom liked to keep in touch almost daily with her friends Dawn and Francis, and with her sister, Jean. Mom had many acquintances and friends.
We lost Dad in 1997. Mom is survived by her daughters; by her sister Jean of Bay Point Assisted/Retirement; and by numerous extended family members and friends.
Mom would want everyone to be happy and not to feel bad, but instead to continue working on a project. . . . Krystal
