COLORADO CITY ~~ Dean S. Phenix, 76, died at 6:15 p.m. Monday in the Morris Nursing Home in Roscoe. He had been in ill health for some time and seriously ill for two weeks.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Kiker and Son Chapel, here with the Reverend H.W. Bartlett, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.
Born January 12, 1887 in Commanche County, he moved with his family to Colorado City in 1898. He was a carpenter here. His father, Dr. N.J. Phenix was a pioneer medical doctor in Colorado City.
He married Myrtle Seale in August of 1926 in Colorado City. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for 52 years.
Mrs. Phenix died about ten years ago.
Survivors include one son, Charles Phenix of Houston; four brothers, Vance D. of Houston, Bruce C. of Port Arthur, Carl T. of Garden Grove, California and Lee of Bishop, California; and two grandchildren.
