ANNAWAN LADY LAID TO REST: Funeral Service for Mrs. Joseph Johnson is Conducted this Afternoon/WELL KNOWN TO MANY PEOPLE HERE/diabetes Caused Death After an Illness of About Four Years.
Funeral service for Mrs. Joseph Johnson of Annawan was conducted at the Annawan First Baptist Church at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon. The service was in charge of Mrs. Anderson, wife of Rev. Mr. Anderson, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Annawan. Music was furnished by the Baptist church choir. The remains were interred at the Annawan Cemetery.
Mrs. Joseph Johnson passed away at the family home at 10:00 o'clock Sunday morning. The news of her passing was received with much regret by her many friends in Annawan and Kewanee.
Diabetes was the cause of her death. She had been in poor health for about four years but had not been seriously ill until about two weeks ago. She was then confined to her bed on account of her illness, and the end came peacefully Sunday morning.
BORN IN MICHIGAN
Mrs. Joseph Johnson was born at Little Rock, Michigan, January 3rd, 1844. She resided at the place of her birth for one year, and with her parents moved to Wisconsin. In 1851 she came to Illinois settling at Annawan where she had since made her home.
She was united in marriage to Joseph Johnson at Cambridge, Illinois, August 12th, 1862.
RELATIVES TO MOURN
Besides the husband who is in a critical condition at the home at this time on account of the bereavement, Mrs. Johnson leaves to mourn her death, three brothers and three sisters, namely Mrs. John Willitts of Kewanee; Mrs. Josephine Crowe of Prescott, Iowa; one sister in Oklahoma; Gustavus Showers of Creston, Iowa; William Showers of Prescott, Iowa; and John Showers of Creston, Iowa.
Mrs. Johnson had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Annawan for a long time and was active in church circles.
Those who attended the funeral service from out of town this afternoon were: Mrs. Maggie Flynn; Mrs. Milton McNealy; Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Collins and children; Mrs. Harvey Osborne and daughter of Sterling, Illinois; and Mrs. H. E. Mallory.
