William was a journeyman butcher on High Street in Uttoxeter in 1851. Siblings of Arthur are Selina 1847, Charles 1851, and william 1859, all born Uttoxeter.

Arthur married Olivia Jane Charlesworth in Burton-on-Trent December quarter of 1878.
Olivia was the daughter of Hugh and Margaret Charlesworth. Siblings included Margaret 1859, Richard 1860, and Frances 1861, all born at Brown Edge.
Olivia ran a small hotel, or boarding house, the Midland Hotel.
Arthur worked for the stout firm, Bass, at Burton-on-Trent. They moved to Exeter, Devon, about 1905 and settled in the brewery house. Arthur was proprietor but used to wander for months and come back as if nothing had happened. He carried a cane with a gold knob which he sold at one point for return fare home. He died of pneumonia 16 January 1907 at age 47. He is buried at Heavitree Church, Exeter.
Olivia and her three unmarried sons went to live at 6 Sheldon Cottage about 1912. She raised her daughter Amanda's three children, Charles, William, and Dulcie, until 1920 when they left for Canada with their father, Daniel Jay. Amanda remained in England and married a Mr. Treleaven. Olivia also cared for her son George's two daughters, Kathleen and Nancy, after their mother died giving birth to her third daughter, Margery in 1919.
Olivia owned and played a harp. Her brother Arthur Charlesworth, rented carriages and horses for wedding and funerals, in Manchester, England.
Olivia is buried at St. Michael's or All Saint's Church, in Manchester.

Amanda, born 21 April 1878, married Daniel Jay September quarter of 1900. Dan and Amanda were divorced. He emigrated to Canada with three of their children. Amanda married second a Mr. Treleaven.
William Arthur Thomas born fourth quarter 1879 married Caroline ?.
Margaret Lillian,born about 1885 Heavitree, married Ernest Evans and moved to Monmouth, Wales
Hugh Lewis married Daisy Driver.
Percy married Betty Martin at Ottery St. Mary, Devon
