James C. Lucas Jr., 71, of East Stroudsburg, died on Monday, Oct. 19, in the Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, Va. He is survived by his companion of 23 years, Laurel E. Morris.

Born in Natrona Heights, he was the son of the late James and Virginia Lucas. He was a resident of the East Stroudsburg area for the past 25 years. He worked as a truck driver for many years, driving for the Gostony Trucking Co. and the Pinnacle Logistics Co. of Stroudsburg and in his early years he was an owner/operator for the Dart Transport Co.

Jim was a member of the American Legion Post #346, East Stroudsburg, and was an army veteran of the Korean War. He was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his companion, Laurel, he is survived by four daughters, LuAnn Crommie of Easton, Antoinette Lucas of Malvern, Samantha Brawley of Honeybrook and Terri Lee Cross of Bradenton, Fla.; a son, Stephen Lucas; four stepchildren, Don Morris Jr. and his fiancée, Dana Brown, Lelani Smith and her husband, Clinton, Aaron Morris and his wife, Janin, all of East Stroudsburg, and Charles Morris and his wife, Alice, of Stroudsburg; two sisters, Alice May Sarver and Barbara Jean, both of Freeport; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Pula & Bensing Funeral Home, 23 N. Ninth St., Stroudsburg. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of services.

Memorial donations can be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
