First Class Private, 5th Trench Artillery. Son of Charles F and Nellie E Peterson. Entered the service at Galesburg, July 15, 1918; to Fort Hancock, NJ; three months overseas service; 201 days in the service; discharged January 31, 1919.

RIO - H. Fred "Fritz" Peterson, 78, of Rio, died Sunday at 10 p.m. at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville. He was born Aug. 17, 1898, in Rio, and married Hazel Deatherage. She survives with a son, Fred M. Peterson, Rio, and two grandchildren, Charles and Christine. Mr. Peterson was reared and educated in Rio, where he lived all his life. He was a former rural mail carrier, a member of the Rio Masonic Lodge 685, Horeb Chapter 4, Galesburg Commandery 8 and the Knoxville Council 1. He served in World War I in the Army. Funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Alpha. There will be no visitation. Rev. William Schlobohm, Reynolds, former pastor of Rio United Presbyterian Church, will officiate. The body will be cremated.
