RIDGEVILLE - Richard O. Hiatt, age 84, died on Wednesday, January 03, 2007 at the Randolph Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Como, IN on December 12, 1922 to Eli and Lyra (Addington) Hiatt. He married Helen Wilson, who survives. He was a grain and dairy farmer all of his working life and also drove school bus for the Randolph Central Schools for 23 years. Richard loved to sing bass and actively sang in gospel quartets and with his family for many years at his local church. He attended Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeville.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Hiatt; his five daughters, Virginia Hiatt, Ridgeville, Elizabeth (Steve) Hendrickson of Winchester, Joyce (Lee) Beard, Ridgeville, Rachel Stanhope of San Diego, CA, and Rebecca Hiatt of Ridgeville; a special daughter, Linda Harshman of Ridgeville; nine grandchildren, Rena (Mike) Stump, Ben (Amy) Hendrickson, Stephanie (Joe) Baldwin, Marjorie (Byron) Alberson, Stuart (Jackie) Hendrickson, Dan (Karri) Partain, Jessica (JJ) Whitney, Chuck Beard, and Michelle (Glenn) Cobb; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Ireda Macy of Ridgeville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Ruth Anna Hiatt and Norma Barr.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the M.J.S. Mortuaries-Middleton Chapel in Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeville. Burial will be at the New Dayton/Bearcreek Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Giddeons or Calvary United Methodist Church.
