(Columbia, KY) - On Monday, June 23, 2008, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office began a missing person's investigation after the victim's family reported him missing. George R. Brown of Trafalgar, Indiana was last seen in Indianapolis on June 15, 2008 and family members and friends have not seen George Brown or his vehicle since that time. George Brown was last known to be driving a diesel, White, 2003 Ford, F350, 4-Door One-Ton truck, Indiana license plate # 1298 (Similar to photo to the right). The truck also has a white camper shell with no windows in it and an aluminum colored lift door on the back which would have a "Howco Cap Sales" tag on the bottom left corner of the lift door.

The body of a Johnson County who man was last seen on Father's Day has been found under a tarp on his property south of Trafalgar and his friend and co-worker has been charged in the killing.
George Brown was last seen on June 15th as he told family members he would be driving Charles David Doss to an address on Indianapolis' southeast side. Brown and Doss had known each other for eight years. A week later, Brown's family reported him missing. It wasn't until Brown's 2003 Ford truck was discovered in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, that sheriff's detectives got the break they'd been searching for. A story about the search for Brown in Doss' neighborhood apparently spooked Doss' relatives and friends who knew the whereabouts of the dead man's stolen truck.
"There was another media blitz Indianapolis on the Brown case," said Johnson County Sheriff's Major Steve Byerly, "and these individuals from Tompkinsville have connections to that neighborhood around Rural and English, so, I think once they found out there might be a body attached or a homicide investigation attached to this truck, I think that's why they got rid of it."
Byerly said the break led investigators to re-interview Doss' friends and family who admitted they lied when first questioned about the case. Doss was arrested in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, to where he had fled to live with a woman he met on the internet.
"During the interview Mr. Doss did confess to the detectives that he shot Mr. Brown in the back of the head," said Sheriff Terry McLaughlin.
Detectives say they've recovered the suspected murder weapon, Brown's own gun, which passed through, "at least six hands." They've also recovered some of Brown's stolen tools which Doss reportedly sold. Investigators say Doss made $400 selling the truck and the tools. Doss is set to appear in court in Johnson County Monday and detectives say his friends and family members could face charges for lying to police.
