William Brickly Stokes
Birth: Sep. 9, 1814
Death: Mar. 14, 1897

Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General, US Congressman. Served during the Civil War as Colonel and commander of the 5th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Volunteers on March 13, 1865 for "gallant and meritorious services during the war". He was elected to represent Tennessee's 3rd and 4th Districts in the United States House of Representatives, serving first from 1859 to 1861, then from 1865 to 1871.
