John J. Dermody Dies; was injured at work

ROSELLE - Funeral services will be held Saturday for John J. Dermody, 59, of 161 Second Avenue, east, who died last night in Elizabeth General Hospital of injuries sustained when he was struck by a piece of pipe fitting while he was working at the Watson-Stillman plant Monday afternoon.

According to police, Mr. Dermody was by by a piece of pipe fitting that flew off a machine under 5, 500 pounds of pressure in the erecting department where he was at work. Mr. Dermody, who was about twenty feet away from the machine, was struck in the chest by the pipe fitting.

Born in Roselle, Mr. Dermody was the son of the late Patrick and Catherine McLoughlin Dermody. He was educated in Roselle schools and had been employed by Watson-Stillman for approximately forty years. Mr. Dermody was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and was a member of its Holy Name Society and Westfield Council 1711 of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Edward Gilmore, of Roselle; and three brothers, William, Thomas, and Lawrence Dermody, all of Roselle.
