Walter R. Church, age 58, of Hammond, IN, formerly of Griffith, IN, passed away Monday, August 6, 2007.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey W. (fiance Nirvana Lew) Church of Schererville, IN; granddaughter, Jiana Marie; and best friend, Brad (Karen) Smith of Highland, IN. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave. (corner of Main and Kennedy), Schererville/Highland, IN with Deacon Thomas Kreidler officiating.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be private at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
Walter was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served in Vietnam. He retired from Inland Steel and was a member of Local 1010 Steelworkers Union. He was also a member of The Boy Scouts of America where he worked on revamping river walkways in Hammond, and the Tri-Chevy Association Car Club. Walter was a loving father, grandfather and friend that will be dearly missed.
