Ruby Ailene Lawrence, 92, of Dawson went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, in Corsicana. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Wade Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wade Funeral Chapel in Hubbard with the Rev. Michael Redmond officiating. Interment will follow in Dawson Cemetery.


Ruby was born Sept. 30, 1916, in Dawson to Charlie and Annie (Taylor) Jordan. She attended Union High School in an area of south of Dawson known as the "Blacklands." She was united in marriage to Windol Eugene Lawrence in 1940. Ruby worked for Mexia State School as a ward clerk for over 17 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dawson. She was a devoted and loving mother, sister and grandmother.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 41 years, Windol Lawrence in 1981; and four sisters, Nellie Jordan in 1971, Erma Evans in 1999, Charlsie Jordan in 2002, and Callie Roloff in 2004. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Houck of Corsicana; son, Ronnie Gene Lawrence of Corsicana; three grandchildren, LIVING; and numerous nieces and nephews.
