Col Barney Dolphia Welch was a Church of Christ minister and an auctioneer (thus the Colonel). He was also active on the Austin Board of Realtors organization. He was indeed a special person to many and he always tried to help others. He enjoyed holding Christian revivals & studying the Holy Bible. He leaves behind his wife Alice, his son Richard, his sister Reba, and friends and associates.

Barney's father, Henry Calvin Welch, was also a minister of the Church of Christ.
