Actress. Child actress in the 1940s, she was nicknamed Queen of the Pigtails by Fox. She first appeared in the 1944 film "Sunday Dinner for a Soldier," as Mary Osborne, and went on to make many pictures and television series over the next ten years. Many people consider "Dragonwyck" 1946 and "The Green Promise" (1949) her finest work. Her last picture was "Rogue Cop" in 1954, for which she was uncredited. In 1942 she was photographed sitting on a park bench with Marilyn Monroe and an old lady. This picture appeared in the 1942 edition of Good Housekeeping. She married and raised three daughters and a son. She worked with a lot of the great stars of the day. She was a descendant of US Chief Justice, John Marshall.
