Gladys Jeanette Zech, 73, of Mount Clemens, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, in University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor. She was born Dec. 24, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mrs. Zech retired as a housekeeper from Clyne & Sobocinski Funeral Home. She served as president of the Harrison Township Lions Club and enjoyed working the many bingo nights helping to raise money for the group's charities. She also was an active member of Moose Lodge 69.
Her family said she always had tools in her purse to help fix anything from a hem to a loose button or a missing screw from eyeglasses. Relatives described her as a proud and loving grandmother who made the best bean soup in town.
Mrs. Zech is survived by her husband, Charles J. Zech; son, Timothy (Kim) Zech; daughter, Michele Zech; brothers, Daniel Cramer, Donald (Janice) Cramer and Roger (Cindy) Cramer; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred Cramer and Agnes Lloyd Cramer; son, Stephen Johnston; and brothers, Robert Rottman and Gerald Cramer.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Clyne & Sobocinski Funeral Home, 22121 Kelly, Eastpointe, with the Rev. William Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and 2-9 p.m. Tuesday.
