Professional Basketball Player. He was a guard for seven seasons (1972 to 1979) in the National Basketball Association, with the Golden State Warriors and Washington Bullets. He was a member of two NBA championship teams (1975 Warriors, 1978 Bullets). His most successful season was in 1974/75, when he scored 863 points with 233 assists and had a 12.5 points per game average during the playoffs. In his career, Johnson shared the court with hall of fame teammates Nate Thurmond, Rick Barry, Elvin Hayes and Wes Unseld. A versatile athlete, he was also an accomplished long-distance jumper. In 521 career regular season games, Johnson scored 4,241 points with 973 assists. He died of cancer. (bio by: C.S.)
