Graveside services for Betty Von Duncan, 77, will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at the King Cemetery on the family ranch in Tatum, where she will go to rest with her husband, Lee, and son, Troy, by her side. Longtime family friend, Brother Wayne, will officiate. Betty Von passed away May 22, 2010.

Betty Von was born Oct. 12, 1932, in Lovington, to Edgar and Emilee Richards. She was raised by her loving stepfather, Homer Ingle.

She was raised on a ranch 10 miles west of Tatum and graduated from Tatum High School in 1950. Right out of high school, she would marry her cowboy, high school sweetheart, Estell Lee Duncan. They had many adventures in their younger years, but eventually ended up back in Tatum on a ranch that was part of Lee's granddad's. It took many years, but they eventually were able to buy the ranch for their very own. It was here they raised their two children, Troy Lee and Sherry Ann.

Lee and Betty were married 47 years at the time of his death in 1997. Betty would continue ranching with the help of family and many dear friends. Betty also stayed very busy driving to Roswell to help run Repeat Boutique, which she co-owned with her daughter, Sherry. She loved seeing and visiting all the many friends she and Sherry made in the 17 years they kept the shop open.

After the loss of her folks, she decided to purchase a second home in Roswell, so she could be closer to her daughter Sherry. Betty made some very, very dear friends in the four years she lived there.

Betty lost her son Troy Lee in 1998, just a year and a half after Lee passed away.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Glenn, and her husband, Rex, of Roswell; Betty's brother, John Ingle, and his wife, Karen, of Tatum; her grandson, Richard Lee Glenn, his wife, Monica, their two daughters Emilee Faith, and Georgia Lynn of Frisco, Texas; grandson, Rex Clint Glenn and Kristy, and his two sons, Andrew Bryce and Rex Jayden, of Roswell; and granddaughter, Stacie Amber Glenn of Albuquerque. She is also survived by Troy Lee's wife, Kyra Duncan, their two daughters, Shelby Von and Haley Jenise, of Tatum; and Betty's stepsister, Bonnie Rae Curtis and her husband, Tom, of San Antonio, Texas.

She also has many nephews and nieces. Last, but not least, she is survived by her faithful dog and companion of the last 13 years, "Chin."

Betty will be dearly missed by her family and her many dear friends. Pallbearers will be Betty's immediate family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to St. Jude's Make A Wish Foundation or your local animal shelter.

Betty's family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Sylvia, Lidia, Sheila, Shannon, and Evelyn, her comfort keepers for the last eight months of her life. Thank you all for the great care and companionship for mom. Also, we would like to thank the wonderful ICU nurses at ENMMC who were there to help with her final journey, especially Rhonda, Gretchin and Sherry, for the help on the night of her passing, the respiratory staff who took such wonderful care, especially Chris, for your compassion and wonderful personality that kept mom smiling. Thank you all so much.
