Organized Crime Figure. He took over the Gambino Crime Family after mobster Paul Castellano was murdered on his orders in 1985. He became known as the "Teflon Don" due to his acquittals on a number of crime charges brought against him. He was finally convicted in 1992 and spent 10 years in prison, where he died of laryngeal cancer.
