~SPECIAL FAMILY MEMBER~

These years together
We've lived and learned,
Grown wiser,
Loved deeply.
We will find our patch of Sunshine
In a better place and time.
You'll greet me at the Door
And I'll hold you to my heart once again.
Thank you, precious friend,
For the time,
the life,
the love you shared
with me.

Preston an orphan was adopted on August 11, 1995 about 2:00pm and was only about four weeks old. We got him off of my great-aunt's farm at the time. (We adopted him along with one other, sadly enough they were the only two of all of the kittens from the farm to survive that year.) He was extremely weak and infested with lice, so the poor little thing had at least two baths the first day at his new home. He was a beautiful kitty-cat almost solid black with very long fur, with only a white patch under his neck and stomach area. The most special thing Preston did was very unique...he would lean back up onto his back legs and bring his front paws together as though he were praying. The worst thing Preston ever did...well actually two things come to mind (of course we do not love him any less). When he was only a few years old, he ran through some paint we had out that we were working with and we had blue kitty cats foot prints for about fifteen feet on our carpet! And then the second was a collectible he knocked down off of a high dresser and nearly broke it into a million pieces! He was a bundle of fun, and kept us on our toes. And boy did he love clothes baskets when they were empty too! Preston was so much more than just a pet, he was a part of our family. And I know we miss him just as much now as when we had to put him to sleep on Independence Day at about midnight. He was never sick a day in his life, completely healthy. But the past few hours, he really had taken a turn for the worst. We noticed he was not his normal friendly self and was trying to stay hidden around our home. Then he started to be sick to his stomach, we decided to take him to the pet emergency center and they came to the realization after several tests he had a traveling blood clot. We asked for some sort of sign of what to do while we were there waiting, and within a few minutes he was unable to walk on his front paw from the clot moving. We just couldn't see making him suffer any longer, we loved him way to much to do that to him for us to selfishly keep him with us. So we said our heart felt goodbye's and he looked up at us one final time as if he knew and was trying to make things easier for us. Our darling Presy Boy could never be replaced, there is not a day that goes by that we don't think about him. And miss him with all of our hearts. We thank our lucky stars to have been able to have shared our lives along with him for the time we had together.
