Murdered Victim

HAMPTON - Carla Denise Frye Williams, 38, died on April 18, 2012, in Hampton, VA, after suffering gunshot and stab wounds and burn injuries, following a domestic incident.

Police were called a few minutes before 4am on April 18, 2012, to Carla Williams' house in the first block of Ravenscroft Lane, Hampton, VA. When officers arrived, they found Carla Williams in the street, suffering life-threatening injuries. She told them there were other family members inside the home.

As officers approached the home and realized it was on fire, they encountered the man identified as Travis Williams (Carla's estranged husband) on the roof and exchanged gunfire with him. The officers were unharmed. Williams was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Carla was an instructional supervisor with the Department of Student Advancement-ESL, at Newport News City Schools.

Carla is survived by two sisters, Marcia Munoz and husband, Shawn of Burtonsville, MD, and Wendy Veney of Woodstock; two nephews, Jace and Cade Munoz and one niece, Gavi Munoz, all of Burtonsville; special aunts, Ophelia Schlager of Largo, FL, Linda Williams of Stuarts Draft, and Deniece Frye of Harrisonburg; her "Nana," Marjorie Veney of Luray; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and friends.

Her daughter, Tori Kaitlyn Williams, 14 months, died April 18, 2012, in Hampton, Va. Tori was born Feb. 1, 2011 in Hampton. Her grandmother, Katie Frye, also died April 18, 2012. Both were found dead inside the burning home.

Services were held at 2pm on Monday, April 23, 2012, at Bradley Funeral Home, 187 East Main Street, Luray, VA 22835.
