County Cork, Ireland
Death: Apr. 30, 1873

Grand Aunt-in-law of automobile industrialist Henry Ford I, as John Ford (1799-1864), one of her brothers-in-law, was, in turn, the paternal grandfather of Henry I. A daughter-in-law of the earliest names on the Ford (Motor Co.) family tree, William Ford (1775-1818) & Rebecca Jennings (1776-1851), she married Samuel Ford, Sr. (1792-1842) on January 25, 1818 in Cork Co., Ireland. They were believed to have lived as tenant farmers near Crohane, in Cork Co., Ireland, until about 1829. They emigrated to Dearborn, MI in 1832 where and when 80 acres were purchased May 23rd. The immigrant pioneers seemed to automatically become U.S. citizens with statehood in 1837, five years before naturalization required renouncing foreign citizenship. She and Samuel Sr. had 6 sons & 4 daughters. Ann was more commonly known as Nancy, possibly to avoid confusion with son William's wife, Ann Ketchum, who he married in 1839. "Nancy" was blind at age 74 upon the 1870 Census. A photo of her, #188-20826, may be obtained for a nominal fee from the Curator of Graphics, Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village, P.O. Box 1970, Dearborn MI 48121. A photo, #U-80793, is of the 5 sons who survived to adulthood. Unlinked children: Rebecca (1822 Ireland - 1897), Henry (1827 Ireland - 1914), Nancy (1833 USA - 1904) & Eliza (1842 USA - 1915).
