Ralph Brooks, 63, of Beardstown, was killed Friday evening, Jan. 10, 1986, at 5:30 p.m. following a two-vehicle accident at Route 67 outside Beardstown.




He was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Cuba, a son of Glen and Jessie (Howarth) Brooks. He married Alberta Brown July 31, 1966, in Sheldons Grove.




She survives, along with five daughters, Theresa Sealock of Macomb, Glenna Battiato of Champaign, Ruth Fluke of Monmouth, Rita Hofer of Rock Island and Cheryl Brooks of Bushnell; two sons, Darrell Brooks of California, and Robert Brooks of Bushnell; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Michaels of Beardstown and Rosa Marie Hall of Raleigh; three brothers, James of Cuba, Kile of Bryant and Glen of Herman; four sisters, Cora Lovina Howarter of Cuba, Glenessa Russo and Ola Irene Adcock, both of Abingdon, and Anna Mae Pringle of Canton; 13 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren.




Preceding him in death were a former wife, a son and a sister.




He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1948 and worked for the Buckeye Gas Co. until retiring in August 1985.
