May 29, 1928, Muscatine, Iowa. LORENZ Died January 17th, 2007 at North Collier Hospital in Naples, Florida. Notes for LORENZ PAUL HOPPE: Lorenz was baptized on April 11, 1920, by Pastor C .F. Kock at Trinity Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine, Minnesota. Sponsors were Frank Sellnow, Wilhelm Sellnow and Mrs. John Woelpern. Lorenz was confirmed on April 14, 1935 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Dryden(Sibley County) Mountville by Pastor Gust J. Mueller. OBITUARY: Lawrence Hoppe, formerly of this community, passed away January 17, 2007 at North Collier Hospital in Naples, Florida. Lawrence left for the army on May 11, 1942 and got back October 8, 1945 He served in the First Infantry Division for over 40 months without any leave time. He received eight campaign stars. Lawrence saw the war at its worst having fought through battles in Africa, Italy and Europe. Lawrence was honorably discharged from the army on October 8, 1945. After returning from the war, Lawrence moved to Illinois and started work as a construction engineer. On March 25, 1950, he married Rose Marie Dowdal. They lived in various cities in Illinois, the last one being Gurnee. Upon retiring they moved to Bonita Springs, Fl. Lawrence was survived by his wife, Rose of Bonita Springs; siblings Frieda Meierbachtol of Blakeley, Alfred of Mankato, Myrtle Haack of Le Sueur, Dorothy Mathwig of Arlington, Earl of Deer Lodge, MT, Alvera Carufel of Hastings, and Joan Wieland of Henderson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Chris in 1949, sister Ethel Seaholm in 1991 and brother Norman in 1992. H. Lehmann of St. Johns Lutheran Church, performed the double ring ceremony uniting Rose Marie Dowdall and Lawrence Hoppe in marriage. Miss Dowdall, daughter of Mrs. Raymond Schwantis, was given in marriage by Raymond Schwantis. She wore a white suit and hat with navy accessories and her flowers were red roses. Mrs. John Dowdall, as matron of honor, wore a navy blue dress with pink and white carnation corsage. Mr. Hoppe, son of the John Hoppes' of Henderson, Minnesota had his brother, Norman Hoppe as best man. The brides mother wore a gown of aqua with white accessories and the grooms mother wore black. Both had corsages of pink and white carnations. Phyllis Lehmann played the special wedding music. A reception was held at the home of the brides parents and immediately following the newlyweds left for a honeymoon trip to Minnesota. The bride was formerly employed at the Otterness restaurant and Mr. Hoppe was an employee of the Bolander Construction Co.
