"Goodie" Douglas, 91, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2002.
She was born to Stanwood pioneers, Ole and Bertha Fjarlie , on July 25, 1910, attended Stanwood schools, and graduated from Providence School of Nursing in Seattle. Goodie and her husband, Nick Sugar, owned and operated the Lighthouse, a cafe at 35th and Rucker during the 1950's. She also was a surgical nurse at Providence Hospital, Seattle, and at Children's Orthopedic Hospital. Goodie loved to travel and spent many happy years seeing the country with family and friends.
She is survived by her loving family; daughter-in-law, Shirley (Christian) Sievers; grandchildren, Lisa (John) Gebert, Todd Sievers, Sara (Gordon) Hodge, and Sonja (Rob) Owen; great- grandchildren, Katie, Matthew and Thomas Gerbert, and Megan, Will and Kyle Hodge; brother, Harold (Marguerite) Fjarlie , nieces, Joye Fjarlie and Joan Andrews; nephews, Orin Fjarlie , Craig Stene and Hal Stene; and several special cousins.
Goodie was preceded in death by her husbands, Nicholas Sugar and Lawrence Douglas; her son, Gary Sugar; and her sister, Bernice Stene.
The family is especially grateful to Vlasta Mach and Ima at the Mach Family Home for the loving care Goodie received during the past few years.
At Goodie's request, no service will be held.
