El Dorado Daily News-20 Aug. 1963-"James A. Goodwin Sr.-James A. Goodwin Sr., former El Doradoan, drowned Sunday afternoon in a boating accident on a lake at his home in Decatur, Ga. It is understood that the boat overturned dumping Mr. Goodwin and his grandson in the water. The boy was not injured. A former El Dorado businessman, Mr. Goodwin was the son of the late Hugh Walter and Mary Ida Langford Goodwin. Survivors include his widow; three sons, J.A. Goodwin Jr. of Washington, D.C., Hugh Goodwin of Atlanta, Ga, Neal Goodwin of Florida; three daughters, Mrs. Lyle Alexander and Mrs. Nan Goodwin of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Caroline Goodwin of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Mrs. J.B. Wharton Sr., Mrs. Nat T. Dyer, Mrs. H.M. Geren and Miss Alta Goodwin, all of El Dorado; 14 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Funeral services have been announced for Tuesday in Decatur."
