The headstone is now gone, but in 1960 Larry Gage reported the grave had a wire enclosure with remains of a wooden marker along the east border of the cemetery.

Born in Hardin, Kentucky, 17 Jun 1810, to George Washington Hudspeth and Sarah Woods, daughter of Ahijah Woods and Mary Jane Moreson.
For years, Hudspeth genealogy researchers in the Lewis Calvin descendant lines questioned who his father was. This was a problem because early census records before 1850 only identify the head of household and then male and female household members by age range, not name. Thus, Lewis Calvin was not easily linked to George W. and Sarah Woods Hudspeth.
One link is the use of the name Ahijah. This name is not evident in Hudspeth family records prior to the years before and immediately after 1800, but it was the name of Sarah Woods' father, Ahijah Woods, and also the name of one of her children, William Ahijah. Thus, it is logical that this family name could be repeated, and Lewis named one of his sons Ahijah. Other evidence that can speculate the relationship to his parents are the areas where they lived, and family name use.

Lewis Calvin married Sarah Ann Gage on 29 Nov 1832 and had 9 children. He passed away in 1882 in Madison, Arkansas, USA.

Ahijah John Hudspeth (son of Lewis Calvin Hudspeth and Sarah Ann Gage) was born 1841 in Madison Co. Arkansas, and died after 1872 is buried in Brushy Cemetery in Carroll Co., Arkansas.

Inscription

No marker, but data should show he died in 1882, not 1872. He is on the 1880 census.
