Harold Ernest Lurtsema, (Luurtsema), born February 21, 1910, to Jan Geerts Luurtsema and Grace A. Burnham Luurtsema in Norfork County, Massachusetts died in the company of his family June 19th, 1997.
Harold married Ethel NaDeane Murray Lurtsema and had three children, Hollie Lurtsema, Harold Dean Lurtsema, and Marilyn Lurtsema who survive.
He and his wife NaDeane moved to California and owned a gas station for a time. Then they sold the gas station and purchased 3 acres of land in Sunland/Tujunga, CA, and rented out apartments and trailer spaces until they sold the property and retired to travel all 50 states and South America.
For reasons unknown to us it appears Harold dropped one of the "U"s, in the name Luurtsema. Making the name legally, Lurtsema, this paticualr part of the family originated in Holland.
Harold was the grandfather of many children, including Mark Harold Lurtsema, Daniel Gene Lurtsema, and Jeannie Louise Lurtsema (Carter) , for a total of 10 grandchildren along with many great-grandchildren at the time of his death.
We miss him and hold his memory dear to our hearts.
