Virgie R. Vanderpool, age 93 of Garrett, KY, widow of Charles Vanderpool, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 in the Prestonsburg Health Care Center, Prestonsburg, KY. She was born June 7, 1919 in Hueysville, KY, a daughter of Gold and Sarah Patton Reed. She was a homemaker.
Virgie is survived by one son, Colin Dean (Lillian) Vanderpool of Hueysville, KY; one daughter, Thomasine (Jimmy) Schrader of Louisville, KY; one brother, John Reed of Hueysville, KY; one sister, Myrtle Vanderpool of Greenwich, OH; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Virgie is preceded in death by seven brothers, Jessie Reed, Claude Reed, Roger Reed, Norman Reed, Kelly Reed, Andrew Jackson Reed, and Gold Reed Jr.; and three sisters, Clarice Pickett, Gail Dedmon, and Sadie Chadwick.
Funeral services for Virgie R. Vanderpool will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, KY with Dolvin Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery in Hueysville, KY. Visitation will be held after 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
