Betty McCune Barker Ruiz, age 90, of Elkins, WV, passed away on May 15, 2014.

Betty was a former resident of Sutton, WV and Ozark, AL. She was born on April 10, 1924 in Gassaway, WV to Alfred and Dora McCune. Betty was the youngest of five McCune children all who preceded her in death, Madge McCune, Jennings McCune, Carl McCune and Ida Stout.

She was married to Dr. Fred Barker of Sutton who preceded her in death and also married to Lee Ruiz who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by children, Mark Barker (Belinda) of Ozark, AL, David Barker of Hedgesville, WV, Robin Mams (Frank) of Elkins, Mitch Barker (Bobbie) of Sutton, WV, ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and by a loving therapy dog Lulu.

Betty was a WWII Veteran serving In a Military Hospital on Long Island, NY and on a transport ship carrying military families back to the US from Germany and England after the war. She was employed in Dr. Barker's Optometrist office until his death and then by Anwar Eye Centers in Sutton and War, WV. Betty was a longtime member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church in Gassaway and embraced her church community with loving arms.
