Curtis W. Behrendt, 86, of rural Herman, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Campbell-Aman Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.
Curtis W. Behrendt was born May 1, 1914 to William and Ida (Kubie) Behrendt at their farm home west of Herman. He attended school in Herman. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in France, Italy and Africa. Following the war, he married Frances Svendgaard on Feb. 28, 1946, in Arlington.
Mr. Behrendt devoted his life to his family and farming. He is survived by his wife, Frances of rural Herman, son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Stella Behrendt of Herman, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Terry Traynor of Omaha, four grandsons, one great-grandson, a sister and brother-in-law, Lola and Viggo Kruse and brother-in-law, Gene Gaukel all of Loveland, Colo., sister-in-law, Ruth Plugge of Arlington, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pearl Gaukel, and twin grandsons.
Memorials are suggested to the Center for Rural Affairs or donor's choice. Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
