Wilbur Charles Cato, Jr., 68, of Fayetteville, passed away at home on April 1, 2014.

Charlie was a 1964 graduate of Russell High School. He joined the armed forces and was awarded the Purple Heart while proudly serving as a Buck Sergeant in the US Army 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War as a medic. Charlie retired from Delta Air Lines after over 30 years of service.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents Irene & Wilbur Cato, Sr. and brother Roy Cato.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Carol Cato; son Brad Cato; daughter Sandy Cato & Rob Hambrick; grandchildren Hayden & Camden Hambrick; also sisters Gail Pope and Alice Cato.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Reverend Bob Partridge will officiate.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to the VVA Vietnam Veterans of America, 800-VVA-1316, vva.org/support. or the American Cancer Society, 310 Kelly Drive, Suite 3, Peachtree City, Georgia 30269.
