Born on August 13, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Engle) Saltzman and lived in New York, NY and Antwerp, Belgium before moving to Monroe County.
He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant.
George started in the diamond business at the age of 28 as a diamond sawyer on 47th Street in New York City. He became president of Faceted Hearts in New York, Belgium and Israel. He was the inventor of the faceted heart shaped diamond and also invented a portable dental machine for mobile use.
He was telented beyond belief and could do anything including electrical, plumbing, song writing, landscaping and building.
Whether he was known as George, Norman, Dad, Grandpa, Gramps or Mr. S., he was a gentle man and a gentlemen. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather with patience and love who was perfect!
He was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Amster of Austin, TX and a brother, Ned Salzman of Brooklyn, NY.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00AM Tuesday, September 21, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. Private burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
Shivah will be observed on Sunday, September 12, Monday, September 13 and Tuesday, September 14 from 7:00 to 8:00PM at Rachelle Kuschner's home on River Road in Shawnee-on-Delaware.
