Robert C. Schumacher was born in Canton, Stark County, Ohio on September 28, 1931. A graduate of Kent State University, Bob served in the U.S. Army of the Rhine in post-war Germany.

Athletic throughout life, his most notable sporting achievement was playing pro ball with the Cleveland Indians for five years.

Bob met and married his wife, Gertrude L. Haney ("Sonnie" to famiy and friends), in Canton. Together, they raised two sons, Robert and Paul Schumacher

A Fellow in the Society of Actuaries who worked primarily in private practice, he eventually retired from the field as a Principal at Mercer Consulting.

A member of the Hurstborne Country Club, he and his wife spent much of their family life in Louisville, Kentucky and Marana, Arizona.

Bob passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville. Visitation was held on April 20, 2011 from 5 to 7 pm at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville. He was interred at Calvary Cemetery following a private graveside service.
