Julienne Hackley Unger, age 95 of Santa Barbara passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of August 20, 2011. Julie was born in Los Angeles, June 12, 1916 to Josephine and George Burrill. Julie was preceded in death by her loving husbands; Robert Tilandy, Scott M. Hackley and Charles H. Unger.

Julie was a beautiful model in Los Angeles and was quite often mistaken for Doris Day. She enjoyed sailing, and loved to take road trips throughout the United States and Canada. Later in life, she took up Lawn Bowling with MacKenzie Park Lawn Bowls Club and became a champion bowler in her age bracket.
She is survived by her niece, Barbara Burrill Mapes; two great-nephews, Charles and James Mapes; step-daughter, Winnie Unger Johnson; two step-grandchildren, Bryan Johnson and Kathryn Bradley; and six great step-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.

A memorial service will be held in September. Internment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. For additional information contact McDermott Crockett Mortuary 805.569-2424.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Santa Barbara, MacKenzie Park Lawn Bowls Club, the Santa Barbara Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.

Julie's family would also like to thank the lovely Hospice ladies who spent hours with Julie when we were unable to be with her to hold her hand and rub her back. They are angels on earth.
