STANLEY GOLD August 20, 1922-September 2, 2012 Born to Philip and Shirley Gold in Brooklyn, NY. Brother Murray (deceased and sister Francine. Predeceased by the love of his life, Lynne, Son Philip and daughter Laura (Price). Stanley was a bright star who started shining early in life, graduating high school at 15. A graduate of City College, he enlisted in the Army air Corp and navigated 25 combat missions over Europe. A theatrical soul, Stanley wrote comic routines while in the Army to entertain soldiers. In fact, the war interrupted Stanley's entertainment career despite his working with Tommy Dorsey, Hazel Scott, and Zero Mostel. Stanley became a very successful businessman after the war. He came to Alabama, working for the Top Dollar organization. he served as vice president, helping to open new stores and making the company a huge success. He loved Jasper, and later Birmingham, and never let relatives around the country forget his passion for 'Bama football. Stanley was committed to his Jewish faith - so much so that he was tireless in his support of Jasper's small Jewish community. He eventually wrote a book detailing the story of area Jewish families from the 1920s on ("Early Jewish Families - Temple Emanu-el"). Stanley made lifelong relationships, largely because of his boundless humor and love of life. He had strong ties with his little brother and baby sister, despite the distance between them. After meeting Lynne, he became an adoring husband to Lynne and a loving father to Laura (who, along with her husband Lance, would become caregivers during his final years). Stan also had no bounds to his love for his only son Philip. Stan will be greatly missed by his nephews (Alan Gershel, Jeff Gershel, Richard Gold and Steven Gold), his niece Sherry, and all of his great nieces and nephews. Collins Burke Funeral Home
