Frank was a tailer and was said to have made uniforms for the Confederate Army and while delivering uniforms across enemy lines, he was hiding under straw in a wagon and was bayoneted and died from his injuries. It is not known whether the soldiers knew they had wounded him or if he was enlisted in the army.

1850 Federal Census show Frank and wife Emma Rilla living in Gainesville, Sumter County, AL
