SOUTH BEND - Karli Nevaeh Aikens, 4, of South Bend, Indiana, daughter of Shannon Griffin and LaRon Aikens was called home to be with God after falling asleep in her mother's loving arms one more time.
Karli passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013, at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Karli is survived by her parents, Shannon Griffin and LaRon Aikens; sister, Ashley Griffin; maternal grandparents, Helen Decker of South Bend and Jay (Lynn) Decker of Lebanon, TN; paternal grandparent, Francine Prince of Oakland, CA; plus many other wonderful relatives and friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Michiana Down Syndrome Group and the recovery community for their loving support throughout Karli's journey. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Holiday Inn Express located at 420 W. University Park Drive, Mishawaka, with a reception to follow. Contributions in loving memory of Karli may be made at Teachers Credit Union.
Palmer Funeral Homes and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
