FAMILY HISTOTRY

William James Fitzpatrick (married Mary Ann Davis, one of thirteen children born to the marriage of Mary A. Eggleston and Jonathan Patrick Davis), on 25 February 1874 in Bastrop County, Texas. Mary Ann and William J. were both born in Bastrop County, Texas as well as their first three children.

The 1880 Bastrop County, Texas census lists W. J. Fitchpatrick age 26, Mary Fitchpatrick age 21, T. J. Fitchpatrick age 03, Wm. T. Fitchpatrick age 02, and Georgia born April 1880 listed as Alvervoenia Fitchpatrick 2 months old on the enumeration date of the census. There is an addition child Ernest Lee Fitzpatrick, born 04 July 1880, Texas, listed on the World War I Draft Coal County, Oklahoma, listing Mrs. * Fitzpatrick, Coalgate, Oklahoma as nearest relative. Note: It is thought that either Ernest Lee Fitzpatrick year of birth is 1881 or Georgia was born 1879. It is not logical that siblings births would be April and July of the same year.

Texas property tax records show that W. J. Fitzpatrick owned land and paid taxes thru the year 1882 in Bastrop County, Texas. Texas Property Taxes show that W. J. Fitzpatrick began paying taxes in Brown County Texas in 1883.

Georgia Fitzpatrick (the oldest daughter) married J. F. (Francis) Warren, December 24, 1896, Georgia died February 1897 in Thrifty, Brown County, Texas. In a portion of a letter from William "Bill" to his sister Laura Duncan dated February 7, 1897 Bill writes: "Dear Sister I take my seat this morning with a heavy heart to let you know...been sick 4 weeks they was 3 doctors with her but could not save her..."

1900 Justice Precinct 7, Brown, Texas lists William J. Fitzpatrick age 46 born 1854, Texas; Mary A Fitzpatrick age 41, born 1859, Texas; mother of eleven children with eight children living. Children living in the household are: Ora Fizpatrick age 13, Morgan Fitzpatrick age 08, Zinnia Fitzpatrick age 02 and Allie Fitzpatrick age 11/12. Mary Ann and William J. known children born in Brown County were John A., James Jefferson, Ora Lee, Morgan, Zinnia and Allie.

There were eleven children born to this marriage; to date, cannot identify all eleven): T. J.(female), William T., Georgia (female), Ernest Lee Fitzpatrick, John A., James Jefferson, Ora Lee (female), Morgan, Zinnia (female), and Allie.

Note: After the 1900 census this family divided with Mary Ann Davis Fitzpatrick, Ora Lee, Zinnia and Allie, moving to Oklahoma. To date, it is not confirmed why this mother moved her minor children to Oklahoma unless there was someone (possibly a son) living in Oklahoma who could help her in the rearing of these minor children. It is unknown to this writer where John A. and James Jefferson were living on the 1900 census.

William Ted Fitzpatrick married Ivy Strawn in 1900 and remained in Brown County, Texas until about 1940; he moved to New Mexico where he and Ivy are buried.

Zinnia Fitzpatrick born July 1897 died on 14 October 1907 buried in Westview Cemetery, Atoka, Atoka County, Oklahoma

Ora Lee Fitzpatrick born 16 March 1887, married Walter Camron in Oklahoma on 01 March 1903, moving to Oklahoma during her fourteenth year, and listed on Atoka County Census on 1910, 1920, and 1930 census. Ora Lee died 21 March 1935 in Arlington, Arizona, where she had lived a short time for her health and prior to going to Arizona she had lived in California for some time. Ora Lee was buried in Westview Cemetery, Atoka, Atoka County, Oklahoma, in the same plot as younger sister Zinnia.

1910 Phillips, Coal County, Oklahoma lists the mother as May Fitzpatric (should read Mary Fitzpatrick) age 50, a widow, born Texas, working in a private boarding house, mother of eleven with eight children living; one child in household: Alli Fitzpatric age 10 born Texas.

1920 Silsbee, Imperial, California census lists Morgan Fitzpatrick, head of house age 27, born Texas, manager of a farm; living in household with son is Mary A. Fitzpatrick age 59, a widow. It is noted there is a discrepancy in the age for Mary Fitzpatrick. Mary Davis was listed as age 02 on the 1860 census living with her parents and 1900 census show birth year as 1859. No further information is known, at this time for Mary Ann Davis Fitzpatrick.

It is not known to the writer where William James Fitzpatrick was living after he left Brown County, Texas; however, William J. (James) Fitzpatrick is listed on the 1930 Vance, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama census with a second wife also named Mary about twenty-six years his junior. According to family history, following the death of his second wife Mary Fitzpatrick, William J. Fitzpatrick was moved to California by two of his sons, stopping in Elgin, Texas to visit with his siblings Laura Fitzpatrick Duncan and Charles Benjamin Fitzpatrick and for the boys to visit with their Davis cousins living inn Austin, Texas that were attorneys.

These four sons remained in California and are buried in California. At this time, it is not known if son Ernest Lee Fitzpatrick died in Arizona or California; death date would be after 1930 census and probably before 1940 census where his wife is listed as widow.
