Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at a 10:00 AM Memorial Service in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel for Wilmer James Broussard, 68, beloved husband, father and grandfather who passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at his home in Lafayette.
Deacon Cody Miller will officiate the Memorial Services.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Shirley Broussard; three children, Kurt Broussard and his wife, Debbie, Ross Broussard and his wife, Melissa and Michelle Broussard Bayard and her husband, Scott; and six grandchildren, Landon, Cody, Evan, Bailey, Madison and Mallorie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert James Broussard and Eugenia "NeNe" David; his nanny, Edma Toups; and his paran, Isaac C. Broussard.
Wilmer James Broussard was born in Youngsville, Louisiana and resided in Lafayette Parish where he raised his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. Wilmer served as a member of the ROTC and graduated from USL where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in animal husbandry, and also attended LSU. He enjoyed raising brahmans and racehorses. Wilmer was a Sergeant with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff Department, where he was known as "Bruce", from 1984 until his retirement in 1998. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Martin & Castille - Southside, 600 E. Farrel Road, Lafayette, Louisiana was in charge of services.
