Levi Foss answered the call to service of his country, He was in militia: Picket's Briggaide at Bunker Hill, Valley Forge and at Saratoga NY. Died of injuries at hospital in Albany. Buried in military cemetery which was later moved. Grave misplaced. Cousin went to Albany to get his coat and gun. National Archives contain receipt for items given to the cousin.

Levi was married to Hannah on June 1 1759. Their children were: Uriah (1760), Walter, Samuel, James, Hannah (1764), and Capt. Phineas Foss (1772).

Vos's regt.; muster roll for Decl, 1777., sworn to in Camp near Valley Forge; enlisted Feb 1 1777., reported woundd and at Albany hospital; also order fro gratuity datd Papperellborough, April 29, 1779, signed by Walter Foss, Jr., Father of sied Levi Foss, deceased, payable to Capt. Silas Burbank.
