Virginia Ann Lowcock, 78, of Lawrence, KS, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, July 3, 2014, at First Southern Baptist Church, 4300 W. 6th St., Lawrence, KS.

Virginia was born August 17, 1935, in Weatherford, OK, the daughter of Jake and Martha (Koch) Nikkel.

She graduated from Weatherford High School in OK. Following graduation she attended a technical college in Oklahoma City, OK.

She has been a resident of Lawrence for the past ten years, moving from Roeland Park, KS, where she resided from 1975 to 2004.

Virginia worked for the United States Department of Justice in Kansas City, MO for over fifteen years as an administrative assistant. Prior to that, she worked with several attorneys in the judicial court system in Kansas and Missouri for twenty-five years.

She was an active member at the First Southern Baptist Church, Lawrence and a longtime member of Nall Avenue Baptist Church in Prairie Village, KS.

Virginia was an avid gardener and enjoyed working in her yard.

Survivors include her two sons, Phillip Lowcock of Baldwin City, KS and Eric Nikkel and wife Sarah of Riviera, TX; brother, Morton Nikkel and wife Doris Lorene of Clay Center, KS; granddaughter, Megan Lowcock of Overland Park, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Martha Nikkel.
