John L. Doll, Age 92, of Weber Street, Dryden, NY passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at home after a brief illness.

Born Feb. 20, 1923 in Ithaca, NY, John was a son of the late Laurence and Marie Matter Doll. He was graduated from Dryden High School in 1941. John was employed all of his life as a builder and carpenter. He served in the US Army during the occupation of Japan and was discharged from the active reserves in 1953.

On August 30, 1956 he was married to the former Ruth Streeter who survives.

John was associated with Patch Brothers, Doll and Streeter Builders and later he was an independent contractor and builder. He was a Boy Scout Leader, an avid outdoorsman and knowledgeable steward of the land. John was a member of the Leonard T. Spaulding Post #1134, American Legion and the Slaterville Lodge F.&A.M. and the Liberty Hyde Garden Club. John also was a former member of the Dryden Fire Department and served many years on the Village of Dryden Board of Zoning Appeals. His friendship was valued by many.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Ruth Streeter Doll at home; his son, John (Jill) Doll of Greene; Nancy (Doug) Haner of Candor and Peggy (Sean) Kincaid of Newfield; a daughter-in-law, Tina Doll of Freeville; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Elaine Doll, his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Grover Woods and his son, William Doll.

A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date. There are no calling hours. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials are directed to the Leonard T. Spaulding Post #1134, American Legion, 2272 Dryden Road, Dryden, NY 13053.
