Violet Thompson was born in Boden, Mercer County, Illinois on September 20, 1920, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Perkins Thompson. Her father died when she was 5 years old and she was raised by her mother and step-father, Herman Hergert.
Violet graduated from Sherrard High School in 1938.
She was united in marriage to Charles F. Pegg, on June 24, 1939 in Davenport, Iowa, to this union two children were born, a daughter Geraldine Faye and a son Roland Charles.
Violet was a former Sunday School teacher at the Milan Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed flower gardening and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Roland (Judi) Pegg of St. Peters, Missouri, her brother Everett Thompson and his wife Ruth, of Rock Island, two sister in-laws, Barbara and Betty Thompson both of Mercer County. Three granddaughters and five grandsons, 14 great-grandchildren , 2 great-great grandchildren, and several Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter Geraldine, her sister Adeline Thompson Hoon, brothers: William, Vernon, and Richard Thompson.
