Carma LaRene Harper Waterman

Carma LaRene Harper Waterman 1934-2012
Our little firecracker was born at home in Ogden, Utah on July 4, 1934 to Renaldo Earl Harper and Mary Eckersell Darley and died November 25, 2012.
She bore each challenge of her 12-year battle with multiple myeloma with amazing strength and grace. Carma was the 8th of 10 children. Her family moved to California when she was 10 years old. She graduated from Glendale High School in 1952 and attended BYU for one year. They moved back to Salt Lake City in 1953 where she soon met David C. Waterman dragging State. Carma and David were married on July 30, 1954 in the Logan Temple. Together they had 5 children: Brent, Chris, Sandra, Susie and Jay. They lived in Murray, Utah while the children were growing up.
Carma served many callings in the LDS church throughout her life and was a dedicated member of the church. Later she and Dave became snow birds and belonged to The Good Sam Club, wintering in Yuma, AZ and spending summers in Heber City, Utah. They purchased a home in Washington, Utah and took great joy in having family members from the frozen north visit to take advantage of the sunshine and warmth in Southern Utah. Carma loved to travel. Her favorite trip was Jay's wedding cruise when 4 of her children and 1 grandson and their spouses traveled together. She loved attending Harper family reunions, especially the ones at Aspen Grove at Sundance, and Mission Bay in San Diego.
Carma is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Flamm, Craig and Tom. She is survived by brothers Glenn, Reid, Leslie, Robert, Ray and sister Carol and by her beloved husband David, her children Brent (Mary), Chris (Caryn), Sandra (Danny) Cruz, Susie (Mark) Scholes, Jay (Trish) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. We couldn't have asked for a more loving, wonderful matriarch and she will be dearly missed. Carma wanted to thank her husband, Dave, for his many years of tender care and devotion. Special thanks also to Joanie Cutler and Natalie at Southern Utah Home Care and Hospice in Washington, Utah and to Julianne Michaelson and Dr. Stanton McDonald at Applegate Home Healthcare and Hospice in Heber City.

Memorial service at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 N. Main Street, Heber City, Utah on Friday, November 30, 2012, visitation at 1:00 and memorial service at 2:00. Carma chose to be cremated and her ashes will be buried in the Call's Fort Cemetery in Honeyville, Utah. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Carma's name to your favorite cancer charity.
