Obituary: Mary A. Zimmerman, 79, of Chokio, Minnesota, passed away September 27, 1990 at her home. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 1990 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Chokio, Minnesota. Officiating the service was the Reverend R. Mark Swanson. Music was provided by organist, Mrs. Roger Amborn, and soloist, Reverend R. Mark Swanson. Honorary Pallbearers were Duane Klein, Roger Gerdes, Rick Reimers, and Bill Staebler. Active pallbearers were grandsons, Brian Behrens, David Behrens, Bill Cox, Robert Mans, Alan Zimmerman, Ehren Zimmerman, Eric Zimmerman, and Matt Zimmerman. Interment took place in the Chokio Lutheran Cemetery. Mary Ann Zimmerman was born July 20, 1911 in Synnes Township, Stevens County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (nee Meyer) Buntje. Mary attended school in Synnes Township. As a young woman she was employed by Dr. Ralph Moffatt at Morris. She was united in marraige to Paul Zimmerman on March 30, 1937 at Chokio, Minnesota. The couple farmed north of Chokio until 1979 when they retired and moved to Chokio. Mary was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, a member of the Mission Action Group of her church, and the Chokio Study Club. She is survived by her sons, Earl of Wabasso, MN, Robert of Friendswood, TX, and Delroy of Fergus Falls, MN, her daughters, Marilyn (Mrs. Melvin) Behrens of Graceville, MN, and Collette (Mrs. Wm.) Cox of Fergus Falls, MN, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren, her brothers, Ervin and Edward Buntje both of Morris, MN, and her sisters, Gladys Hadler of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Lillian Haben of Alexandria, MN, and Bertha Hystad and Liz Podtburg both of Morris, MN. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul, on July 24, 1983, her brothers, Clarence (Shorty), Fritz, and Walter, and her sister, Elsie. Arrangements were with Pederson Funeral Home, Morris, MN.
