Our mother, Madeline Frances Daly Guillot, born Feb. 8, 1925, in Shreveport, La., to Mark Raymond Daly and Mary Caroline Reitz, passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010.
She leaves behind four sisters, Mary Jepsen of Houston, Margaret Daly of Michigan, Catherine Daly of California, and Patricia Taylor of Wisconsin; and two brothers, George Daly of Jacksonville and Mark Daly of Dallas. Her six children are Ray Guillot and wife Donna of Shreveport, La., Richard Guillot of Corsicana, Mary Guillot Brown and husband Jim of Corsicana, Robert Guillot of Miami Fla., Joan Guillot Binnings and husband Clem of Roanoke, Va., and Geri Guillot Cunningham of Cape Coral, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Fr. Claude Daly, S.J. and John Daly. Our father, Newton Peter Guillot, passed away in 1984.
After graduating from St. Vincent's Academy in Shreveport, she attended T.E. Schempert Memorial Sanitarium where she received her RN diploma. She then served as an Army cadet nurse in World War II caring for wounded soldiers brought to McCloskey field by troop train in Temple. She served our Lord as a nurse for 55 years until her retirement at age 75.
She will be missed by her grandchildren, Curt Guillot, Cheri Guillot Young and husband Nathan, Trey Brown and wife Sandy, Ben Brown, Arrian Binnings and wife Sejal, Scott and Julia Binnings, and Alec and Alana Cunningham. Two great-grandchildren greeted her in heaven. Great-grandchildren are Josh Guillot, Cannon and Cooper Young, Natalie and Emily Brown, and Olivia Anne-Marie Brown. She has numerous nieces and nephews who were dearly loved.
Rosary will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
The family wishes to thank the second floor nursing staff at Navarro Regional Hospital, Family First Hospice, Heritage Oaks West (East Wing), and Dr. Kent Rogers for their love, support and care extended to our mother.
