His unit was Company D, of the 19th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was a private. George served until October 1, 1862. George married ?, and they had a daughter, Sarah. Later, George met and married Matilda Ellen Rickard about 1875, in Williamsport (which later became part of Alliance, Ohio). Matilda was born on March 8, 1848, in Pennsylvania. She was a daughter of Solomon and Elizabeth (Seigel) Rickard. In 1880, George and Matilda lived in Alliance. Matilda E. (Rickard) Harrison died on February 22, 1896, in Alliance. She was buried in Alliance City Cemetery, in Alliance. George resided in Alliance until he moved to the Soldiers Home in Sandusky, Ohio, sometime after 1910. George was a member of the John Fremont post of the Grand Army of the Republic, in Alliance. George C. Harrison died on March 21, 1920, in Sandusky, Ohio. He was buried in Alliance City Cemetery.
